Superintendent's Message
Dear EHPS School Community,

OCTOBER IS FIRE PREVENTION MONTH!
As we welcome the beautiful autumn season, it's important to remember that October is Fire Prevention Month. Our local Fire Department will be out and about visiting schools and talking with students about the importance of fire safety.

In that spirit here are 5 ways you can to reduce the risk of fires and keep your home safe:
  1. Check Smoke Alarms: Check your smoke alarms and change the batteries if necessary so they are ready to alert you in case of a fire.
  2. Create a Fire Escape Plan: Develop and practice a fire escape plan with your family so everyone knows how to exit your home safely and where to meet outside in case of a fire.
  3. Kitchen Safety: Unattended cooking is a leading cause of house fires. Always stay in the kitchen while cooking, and keep flammable items away from the stove.
  4. Candles: Use candles with caution, and never leave them unattended. Consider using battery-operated LED candles as a safer alternative.
  5. Electrical Safety: Inspect your electrical cords and outlets for damage. Avoid overloading outlets with too many devices.

Thank you for partnering with us to protect your home and family from the devastating effects of fires.

In partnership,
Erica Forti

Responsible Citizenship Classroom Lesson & Volunteer Activity:
Some elementary classrooms across the district recently participated in a Vision of the Graduate Learning Activity for the attribute of Responsible Citizenship! To start this activity, students discussed what it means to a responsible citizen, examples of responsibilities they hold at home and at school, and ways they can contribute towards being a responsible citizen in the East Haven Community. The activity involved decorating bags that were then used to distribute food at the East Haven Food Pantry and students learned that through a small act of kindness such as this, they can make a BIG impact in the lives of others & help those in their community!
